Nowhere to Go: The Crisis in Supportive Housing for Older Californians

Join us for an important informational hearing examining the growing crisis in supportive housing for older adults in California.

Nearly half (48%) of people experiencing homelessness in California are older than 50, and 41% of homeless adults became unhoused for the first time after they turned 50 (UCSF report). As our population ages, the need for safe, stable, and affordable housing options has never been more urgent.

This hearing will bring together key voices to explore the challenges, gaps, and potential solutions facing our communities. A range of critical topics will be addressed, including the following:

  • Older adult homeless programs and the barriers caused by a lack of available settings
  • The ongoing shortage of supportive housing options for older adults
  • Challenges around building an operating permanent supportive housing
  • Programs working to expand permanent supportive housing across California
  • Public comment from those attending in person

Don't miss this critical conversation on one of the most pressing issues facing California today.
